How It Happened
WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley's women's soccer team shut out the Monarchs of King's College (Pa.) by a 2-0 mark in non-conference action on a balmy Saturday afternoon. The Dutchmen improved to 2-4 while the Monarchs dropped to 3-4 on the season.
The Dutchmen would get on the board first at the 25:50 mark of the first half. Neither team had many offensive chances to that point but LVC's
Bridgett Finn would capitalize on an assist from
Madison Carper and place the ball in the lower-right corner to give the Dutchmen the early lead. LVC's defense would be strong the remainder of the half limiting the Monarch's to just a single shot on goal in the half and took the 1-0 lead into intermission.
After a mostly defensive second half, the Dutchmen got a key insurance goal in the 85th minute from
Kaeleigh Smedley. Smedley took a shot that deflected off a Monarch defender and trickled into the lower-right corner to double the Dutchmen advantage. LVC would hold that lead for the final five minutes to earn the 2-0 victory.
