How It Happened
CORTLAND, N.Y. – Lebanon Valley began its 2019 campaign at the Cortland Red Dragon Classic, hosted by SUNY Cortland, on Friday afternoon. In the Dutchmen's opening match, LVC lost a hard-fought five-setter to the host Cortland, followed by a 3-0 defeat at the hands of St. Lawrence..
Sophomore
Reily Shelly led the way offensively for the Dutchmen with 17 kills.
Julia Rill also recorded double-digit kills with 11, to go along with a team-leading 20 digs.
Jayna Class recorded eight kills and registered four digs.
Jensen Burnheimer led the team with 39 assists while also recording 12 digs.
Kaitlyn Reed added 15 digs with two service aces and
Grace Powell recorded seven kills for the Dutchmen.
In the Dutchmen's second match of the day, LVC fell to St. Lawrence in straight sets (25-20, 25-21, 25-19).
Shelly led the way with nine kills, with Class and Mikaih Sangrey each totaling eight kills. Reed and
Amanda Sides each recorded a pair of service aces. Sides and
Emily Bartlett led the Dutchmen with eight digs each.

The Cortland Red Dragon Classic concludes tomorrow with LVC taking on Fredonia at 12:30 p.m., followed by a matchup with Western New England at 3 p.m..
