GRAND LAKE, Colo. – Lebanon Valley's
Jen Eck has been named an IWLCA Third Team All-American, announced Monday. Eck is just the second player in program history to earn the distinction from the IWLCA, and the third player to earn all-america honors of any kind.
"Our coaching staff is extremely proud of Jen for this well-deserved honor", said head coach
Jackie Dando. "Jen's work is visible on the field in her dominance on the draw circle, speed in transition, and 1-v-1 defense. I match her up with top attackers in the region, and she never lets us down. Jen is certainly someone you want on your team. Behind the scenes, she's the glue to the defense with her help slides, 8m knockdowns, and communication. Her passion and competitve fire shows every single day in practice and in games. This recognition is a testament to Jen's work ethic and her ability to put the team above herself. We can't wait to see her lead us again in 2020 as we continue to climb to the next level as a program."
Eck was dominant in 2019 and led Lebanon Valley women's lacrosse team to its first-ever MAC Commonwealth Championship title and the Dutchmen's first ever NCAA Tournament appearance. The MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Year led LVC with 37 caused turnovers and 109 draw controls and ranked third on the team with 37 ground balls. The IWLCA All-Metro Region First Team pick drew opponents' top scorers throughout the season and anchored a defense that allowed 10.30 goals per game. Eck ranked second in the conference in draw controls per game and caused turnovers per game. She tied a school record for most draw controls in one contest against Widener.
The team captain is the first IWLCA All-American since Bailey Benz earned the distinction back in 2014. Hana Krechel was the Dutchmen's other all-american named by USA College Lacrosse back in 2011. Eck was just one of 57 players in the nation to earn 2019 Division III All-America honors and the lone player in the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC).
