How It Happened
ANNVILLE, Pa. – In the opening game of this afternoon's doubleheader between DeSales and Lebanon Valley, the Flying Dutchmen's bats were silenced and the Bulldogs scored three runs in the top of the sixth to pull away from LVC and defeat the Dutchmen 6-1.
After the first three innings went scoreless, DeSales' Emma Izzo reached on a throwing error that allowed Delaney Smith to score. Next, Aubree Fritzinger made it 2-0 in favor of the vistors off her sacrifice fly. In the top of the fifth, the Bulldogs added another run thanks to Heather Hall's RBI-single up the middle.
DeSales then scored three times in the top of the sixth to increase its advantage to 6-0. In the bottom of the seventh,
Savannah Toth got LVC on the board with an RBI-double down the left field line that plated
Kyra Stanilious, but it wasn't enough, as the Dutchmen fell 6-1.
Inside the Numbers
- Toth led the way at the plate by going 2-for-3 with an RBI and a walk.

Robin Feaster each recorded a hit.

Sarah Musselman got the start inside the circle and tossed 4.1 innings and allowed one earned run and struck out a pair.

Jen Kaufman swiped a bag for LVC.
- Reilly Kerr paced DeSale's offense and went 4-for-5 with a pair of RBI.

How It Happened
In game two,
Jen Kaufman ripped an RBI-single to right field to allow LVC to walk off and edge the Bulldogs 4-3. After this afternoon's split, LVC moved to 15-13, while DeSales now sits at 11-17.
LVC got on the board early in game two when
Rylee Shockley singled through the left side in the bottom of the first to score
Annie McClain. In the top of the second, however, the visitors answered with a pair of runs to take a 2-1 lead. McClain then evened the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the frame off her sacrifice fly that scored Musselman.
In the bottom of the fourth,
Kyra Stanilious put the Dutchmen ahead 3-2 with her RBI-single to center field, but again, the Bulldogs tied the game at 3-3 in the top of the fifth off Panconi's single to center field. From there,
Lexi Windsor held DeSales' offense in check, and the contest remained tied heading into the bottom of the seventh.
Kate Whelski started off the bottom of the seventh by reaching on an error, and Toth then sacrifice bunted Whelski to second to put the winning run in scoring position. Shockley then singled up the middle to move Whelski to third, and after a Bulldogs' pitching change, Kaufman came to the plate with a chance to win the game for LVC. She took the first pitch for a strike, but she smacked the next pitch into right field, allowing Whelski to score to give LVC a thrilling 4-3 victory.
Inside the Numbers
- Stanilious and Shockey each recorded three hits and one RBI.
- Musselman went 1-for-2 with two runs scored. Her lone hit was a triple to left center.
- Kaufman went 1-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base.
- Inside the circle, Windsor threw all seven innings and picked up her ninth win of the season. She gave up just one earned run and struck out two.
