W. Lacrosse Trounces Arcadia For Fifth Straight Win

How It Happened
GLENSIDE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley cruised to a dominant 18-3 victory over Arcadia on Tuesday night in MAC Commonwealth women's lacrosse action. The Flying Dutchmen won their fifth consecutive game and improved to 9-6, 6-1 MAC Commonwealth, while the Knights fell to 1-14, 1-6 MAC Commonwealth.
 
Brittany Hathaway put one on the board quickly for LVC with a tally at 28:26, followed by Jaclyn Little's goal at 26:53, both coming off assists from Makenzie Kelley. Arcadia got one back at 23:44, but Little struck again at 15:22, and Kelley then netted two straight unassisted goals at 9:17 and 6:57 to increase the visitor's lead to 6-1. With 52 seconds to go in the first, the Knights, Nicole Kress found the back of the net, but LVC still held a somewhat comfy advantage at 6-2.
 
In the second half, the Dutchmen went off, netting three goals in the span of just over two minutes to take a 9-2 lead. Kress netted another for the home team at 24:40 to bring Arcadia to within six at 9-3, but it was all LVC from there, as the Dutchmen clamped down on defense and the offense provided eight goals in the final 20:58 of action. Venezia scored unassisted at 20:58 and Hathaway netted back-to-back goals to make it 13-3. Veronica John then found the back of the net for the second time tonight and Hathaway added yet another at 11:19. John then reached the hat trick with just under 10 minutes to go, and Kayci Strous scored at 4:36 and with 26 ticks left on the clock to make it an 18-3 game.
 
Inside the Numbers
 - In its last two games, LVC has outscored its opponents 39-7.
 - Hathaway scored four goals and added four assists for eight points. She had eight shots on goal, collected a pair of ground balls, controlled a draw and caused a turnover.
 - Venezia finished with three goals and three assists on four shots for LVC.
 - John netted three goals on four shots.
 - Kelley ended with two goals and five assists for seven points on 10 shots.
 - Emily Federowicz, Little, and Strous each scored a pair of goals.
 - On defense, Jen Eck dominated, as she scooped up a game-high five ground balls, caused three turnovers, and controlled seven draws.
 - Alexa Bash and Julia Gabriel picked up four ground balls each and Gabriel added five draw controls and caused two turnovers.
 - Leah Franklin picked up the win between the pipes after allowing just three goals and making four stops in 49:05 of action.
 - The Dutchmen held the impressive edge in shots (46-12) and shots on goal (34-9).
 - LVC was nearly perfect in clears, going 18-for-19, while the Knights were 16-for-26.
 - The Dutchmen led in ground balls (28-16) and draw controls (15-7).
 
Playoff Picture
LVC has already clinched a spot in next week's MAC Commonwealth Postseason Tournament, but seeding is still up for grabs.
 
Who's Next?
LVC finishes off its 2019 regular season on Saturday when the Dutchmen travel to Messiah for a 12 p.m. game with seeding on the line.
