How It Happened
ANNVILLE, Pa. – Playing in its final home game of the regular season, Lebanon Valley didn't disappoint and routed Alvernia 21-4 in MAC Commonwealth women's lacrosse action. The Dutchmen won their fourth straight and improved to 8-6, 5-1 MAC Commonwealth and secured a spot in the 2019 MAC Commonwealth Championship Tournament. The Golden Wolves dropped to 4-10, 1-5 MAC Commonwealth.

LVC began the game on fire, as Julia Gabriel brought down the opening draw control and outraced Alvernia's defenders and scored her eighth goal of the year just 12 seconds into the game. Less than a minute and a half later, Jaclyn Little found the back of the net from Brittany Hathaway, and Hathaway then added two straight goals, followed by another from Gabriel and one from Makenzie Kelley to make it a 6-0 game with 19:26 left in the opening half. Momentarily, the visitors stopped the bleeding with a goal at 18:56, but LVC went on another scoring run, netting five consecutive goals to go up 11-1. Alvernia's Julie Peter netted a goal with 4:28 left, but Kelley answered with an up-goal and Veronica Venezia found the back of the net with four seconds left off an assist from Kate Baker, giving the home team a dominant 13-2 advantage heading into the second half.

In the early going of the second, Kelley took over and scored three consecutive goals to increase the Dutchmen's lead to 16-2. The Golden Wolves netted back-to-back goals to make it a 16-4 game with 18:22 left, but it was all Dutchmen from there, as they scored the game's final five goals to win comfortably at 21-4. Jen Eck even got in on the scoring action when the defender tried out offense for a few minutes and scored her first goal since March 22, 2017. Baker also netted her first career goal when she scored an up-goal from Little with 3:14 left in the game.
