How It Happened
CLERMONT, Fla. – Lebanon Valley dropped a narrow 5-2 game to Emmanuel (Mass.) in the Flying Dutchmen's first game of two on Wednesday afternoon during LVC's spring break trip.
The Saints struck early in the contest when Orcutt doubled home two runners in the top of the first. Later in the frame, Sendrick hit a sacrifice fly, but
Sarah Musselman limited the damaged and the Dutchmen escaped further damage.
In the bottom of the second, LVC broke through and came to within two thanks to
Kate Whelski's singled that scored
Sam Weaver and
Kristi Langhans. From there, the game stayed at 3-2 until the top of the seventh when Emmanuel scored two insurance runs.
Down by three in the bottom of the seventh, LVC began a threat when Whelski singled up the middle, followed by
Savannah Toth's walk.
Rylee Shockley then singled to left field to load the bases, however LVC was unable to push any runs across and fell 5-2.
Inside the Numbers
- Whelski paced the offense by going 3-for-4 with two RBI.
- Shockley had a hit and drew a walk.

Jen Kaufman went 1-for-2 with a walk and a stolen base.
- Musselman tossed all seven innings and struck out seven.

How It Happened
In Lebanon Valley's second game of today's doubleheader, the Dutchmen were outslugged by the Greyhounds of Moravian College 16-8 as the two teams combined for 35 hits and 24 runs. LVC now sits at 1-5 overall, while Moravian moved to 4-2.
Moravian got on the board in the bottom of the first thanks to a leadoff homerun by Wehr, but
Maddie Abbot settled down and allowed just the one run in the inning. Then, in the top of the second, the Dutchmen put up a crooked number and took the lead, beginning with
Jen Kaufman's RBI-single that scored
Robin Feaster. Then, Whelski hit a bases-clearing double that scored
Annie McClain, Kaufman, and
Sam Weaver to put LVC ahead 4-1.
The Greyhounds answered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the second, but LVC got one back when
Kyra Stanilious reached on an error that scored Shockley to make it 5-3 in favor of the Dutchmen. Then, in the bottom of the third, Moravian put up six runs to take a 9-5 lead and officially make it a slugfest. After the Greyhunds went up 10-5 in the fourth,
Savannah Toth hit a three-run homerun in the top of the sixth to bring LVC to within two at 10-8.
In the bottom of the sixth, however, Moravian was able to keep its offense rolling, as the Greyhounds scored six more times to force the mercy rule and win the game 16-8.
Inside the Numbers
- Whelski went 3-for-4 at the plate with three RBI.
- Toth registered a pair of hits to go along with three RBI as well.
- McClain and Feaster added two more hits each for the Dutchmen.
- Kat Spilman and Maddisen Bieber each recorded four hits for the Greyhounds.

Who's Next?
LVC's spring break trip continues on Friday with another doubleheader. The Dutchmen battle Dominican (Ill.) at 11:30 a.m. before taking on Wittenberg at 1:45 p.m.
