W. Tennis Falls Narrowly to Stevenson

ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley dropped a close contest to Stevenson in each team's MAC Commonwealth opener on Saturday afternoon in women's tennis action. The Dutchmen dropped to 3-7, 0-1 MAC Commonwealth, while the Mustangs improved to 5-3, 1-0 MAC Commonwealth.
 
In No. 1 doubles, Melanie Haas and Emily Wilczek fought hard but dropped a tough 8-7 (7-5) match to Jenna Skove and Kelsi Mentzer. Rachel Duong and Meridyth Sanders also fell narrowly to Megan Waskiewicz and Kirstyn Davidson by an 8-5 margin.
 
Wilczek picked up a 7-5, 6-2 victory in No. 3 doubles over Waskiewicz, followed by Sanders' win in No. 5 wingles at 6-4, 6-2 over Mentzer. Elizabeth Drda edged out Nina Bretz 7-5, 6-2 in No. 5 singles, followed by Zoe Birch's 6-4, 6-1 win in No. 6 doubles.
 
The Flying Dutchmen return to action on Wednesday, April 3rd at Cabrini University at 3:30 p.m.
