How It Happened
GETTYSBURG, Pa. –
Lexi Windsor pitched yet another complete-game shutout and Lebanon Valley's offense provided three runs in the Flying Dutchmen's 3-0 victory over Gettysburg in game one of a doubleheader with the Bullets.
In the top of the third,
Rylee Shockley made it 2-0 in favor of LVC with one swing of the bat when she launched a ball over the center-field fence for a two-run home run. In the bottom of the sixth, Gettysburg was threatening after Taylod Doi singled through the right side to open the inning and later stole second. Windsor then got M. Taylor and S. Baker to fly out, then struck out E. Colline to avoid any damage.
In the top of the seventh, the Dutchmen provided Windsor with an insurance run after
Kate Whelski's flyout brought home
Jen Kaufman. In the bottom of the seventh, Windsor induced three consecutive groundouts to seal the 3-0 win for the Dutchmen.
Inside the Numbers
- Windsor pitched her second complete-game shutout of the week and moved to 7-1 overall this season with her third win of the week. She allowed just four hits, one walk, and struck out seven.
- Shockley went 3-for-3 at the plate with a pair of RBI.
- Toth,
Sarah Musselman, and Kaufman had one hit apiece.
- At the plate, Windsor drew a pair of walks.

How It Happened
In game two, Lebanon Valley's offense exploded for nine runs and the Dutchmen were able to hold off Gettysburg late. The game was called in the bottom of the seventh due to darkness. LVC improved to 11-9, while the Bullets fell to 10-8.
The home team struck for three runs in the bottom of the first, but the Dutchmen battled back and made it a 3-1 game after
Robin Feaster doubled home Kaufman. In the top of the third, the visitors pulled even with the Bullets after Toth homered to left field. Then, LVC took the lead in the top of the fourth and took advantage of some Gettysburg fielding miscues.
In the bottom of the fourth, however, the Bullets tied the game at 5-5 after two-RBI double to left center. But, in the top of the sixth, LVC took the lead for good, beginning with Kaufman's RBI-single that scored
Ashley Dotey, followed by
Alison Noga's sacrifice fly to put LVC ahead 7-5. In the top of the seventh, Whelski put an exclamation point on the win when ripped a two-run home run to left to seal the win.
Inside the Numbers
- Musselman pitched well enough to earn her second win of the season. She struck out a pair of batters in six innings and allowed four earned runs.
- Shockley had three more hits in game two and scored a run and drew a walk.
- Kaufman finished 3-for-5 at the plate and swiped a base.
- Toth provided two hits and a game-high three RBI.
- Feaster went 2-for-4 at the dish for LVC.
- At the plate, Whelski had one hit, two runs scored, and two RBI.
