How It Happened
ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Elizabethtown Blue Jays surpassed the Lebanon Valley Flying Dutchmen late to win game one of the doubleheader 6-4 on Saturday afternoon. The Blue Jays moved to 7-14, while the Dutchmen dropped to 11-10.
 
Lebanon Valley was the first to cross home in the bottom of the first after Savannah Toth hit a sacrifice fly to center field, scoring Annie McClain. Two innings later, in the bottom of the third with bases loaded, McClain was scored again after Rylee Shockley hit a pop up to the shortstop. In the bottom of the fifth, Kate Whelski hit a bomb, scoring McClain and earning herself a homerun and two RBI. The Dutchmen led 4-0 entering into the sixth.
 
The Blue Jays gained its momentum in the top of the sixth after earning three runs and now trialed by one. Elizabethtown gained the lead in the top of the seventh after scoring three more runs and led 6-4. Due the good defense by the infield, LVC couldn't score in the bottom of the seventh, and the Blue Jays went on to win game one of the double header 6-4.
 
Inside the Numbers
- Annie McClain scored three runs and had three hits.
- Kate Whelski hit the only homerun of the game and earned two RBI.
- Savannah Toth and Rylee Shockley had an RBI each.

How It Happened
Lebanon Valley came back from a 6-0 deficit in the fourth to split with the Elizabethtown Blue Jays in game two of the doubleheader. The Dutchmen advanced to 12-10, and the Blue Jays dropped to 7-15.
 
Keeping the momentum from game one, Elizabethtown scored three runs in the first, one run in the third, and two more runs in the fourth. The Dutchmen were down 6-0 entering into the bottom of the fourth. LVC scored its first run after Kristi Langhans doubled to left center plating Rylee Shockley. Jen Kaufman was next to bat and hit one to second and Langhans scored on a fielder's choice. The Dutchmen scored one more in the fourth after Annie McClain singled deep into center field plating Alison Noga and earning an RBI.
 
Lebanon Valley was down by three entering into the bottom of the fifth. Another homer for the home team as Rylee Shockley sent one flying past the fence and plated Savannah Toth along with her and brought LVC within one of the Blue Jays. The Dutchmen kept Elizabethtown from scoring another run in the top of the sixth. In the bottom of the sixth, Lebanon Valley had two outs when McClain doubled deep into center scoring Sarah Musselman and tied the game 6-6. Kate Whelski was up next and sent one flying to left center and plated McClain. After a throwing error by the Blue Jays, Whelski crossed home plate, and LVC was up 8-6. After three outs right in a row in the top of the seventh, the Dutchmen went on to win eight runs to six.
 
Inside the Numbers
- Rylee Shockley led the Dutchmen's offense with two runs, three hits, and two RBI.
- Annie McClain had one run, two hits and two RBI. Kate Whelski right behind her with one run, two hits, and one RBI.
- Kristi Langhans and Jen Kaufman had an RBI apiece.
- Sarah Musselman pitched all seven innings, had a total of 108 pitches, four strike outs, and eight ground outs.
 
Autism Awareness Day
LVC drew sported special Autism Awareness Day t-shirts to support Autism this afternoon. Through donations, the Dutchmen have raised over $500 that they will send to charity.
 
Who's Next?
The Dutchmen head to Haverford, Pa. on Thursday, April 4th, to take on the Haverford Fords in a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m.
