How It Happened
ANNVILLE, Pa. – In game three of the series, the Alvernia Golden Wolves surpassed the Lebanon Valley Flying Dutchmen in the seventh to win on Sunday afternoon. 12-8. Alvernia moves to 13-5, 6-0 MACC, while the Dutchmen dropped to 9-7, 2-3 MACC.
The Dutchmen started off strong when
Chris DeClerico doubled down to left field plating Brian towers in the bottom of the first. Good pitching by both LVC's
Tanner Rock and Alvernia's Jake Reece left both teams locked up for the next two innings. Lebanon Valley was able to gain some momentum in the fourth after
Josh Herring singled to left center scoring
TJ Holdredge. The Dutchmen scored two more after
Michael Leri sent one flying deep into center landing him on second and earning two RBI with Herring and
Josh Marcelli crossing home plate. LVC was in the lead 4-0.
Alvernia started to find its groove in the top of the fifth and scored three and trailed only by one. Lebanon kept the lead alive after Holdredge sent one to center plating DeClerico and led 5-3. With a pitching change from LVC, Alvernia plated two more and tied the score at 5-5 in the sixth. Another pitching change for the Dutchmen in the seventh and the Wolves scored two more, but LVC stayed in the game after plating Towers.
Alvernia scored another four runs in the eighth and ninth creating a 12-6 lead as the Dutchmen entered into the bottom of the ninth.
Bryan Towers singled home
Nick O'Shea in the bottom of the ninth, followed by
Joey Wrabel's double, which earned him an RBI as Towers crossed home plate, however, the effective defense and pitching by the Golden Wolves stopped the Dutchmen's momentum, and Alvernia went on to win 12-8.
Inside the Numbers
- Brian Towers led the offense with three runs and three hits.

- DeClerico,
TJ Holdredge, and
Joey Wrabel had two hits apiece.
- Alvernia led in total hits at 17-13, and RBI at 10-8.
- Alvernia's Nathan Sides led his team's offense with three runs, five hits, and three RBI.
