How It Happened
WINCHESTER, Va. – The Lebanon Valley Flying Dutchmen flew past Shenandoah University in the first half, outscoring the Hornets 7-2 and came away with the 14-8 victory in Saturday afternoon's non-conference women's lacrosse action. The Dutchmen earned their second win of the season and jumped to 2-4, while the Hornets dropped to 5-3.
Lebanon Valley was quick to score the first goal of the game when
Makenzie Kelley found the back of the net unassisted just 1:20 into the contest. The Dutchmen continued their offensive pressure and scored three more unassisted goals within the first 10 minutes of play. Shenandoah was able to get past LVC and netted one with 15:36 to go in the half, bringing the score to 4-1. The Dutchmen answered just over two minutes later after Kelley scored her second unassisted goal of the game. After LVC received a yellow card, the Hornets had the player advantage and scored on a free position shot. The unfazed Dutchmen, though, scored two more unassisted goals and ended the half up 7-2.
SU found a little bit more offensive power and was the first to score 4:06 into the second half. The Hornets' momentum came to an end after Lebanon Valley scored five goals in nine minutes and 45 seconds and created a nine-point lead. Shenandoah scored the final three goals of the game, but LVC's lead was too large, and the Dutchmen went on to win 14-8.
