How It Happened
YORK, Pa. – No. 7 York (Pa.) outscored Lebanon Valley 11-3 in the opening half and the Flying Dutchmen couldn't dig themselves out of the hole and eventually fell 16-6 to the Spartans on Wednesday evening in non-conference women's lacrosse action. LVC slipped to 1-4, while York jumped to 4-1.
The Spartans jumped out to a quick 4-0 advantage with 24:31 left in the first half thanks to four consecutive goals by Regan Cook. York added two more goals in the span of 23 seconds to increase its advantage to 6-0, but
Makenzie Kelley stopped the bleeding with 13:16 left with her 10th goal of the season off an assist from Veronica Venenzia. Cook then added another for the home team, but Venezia then netted her 15th tally of the year to make it 7-2 with just over 11 minutes left in the half.
Veronica John scored her first of the season with 2:48 remaining, but York added two more in the final 1:33 of action to take a commanding 11-3 lead into the second half.
LVC got off to a good start in the second half when Kelley netted her second of the day less than a minute into the half, but York answered with a pair of goals to take a 13-4 advantage. With 18:31 remaining in the contest,
Emily Federowicz found the back of the net for the fifth time this season, but again, the Spartans responded with a pair of scores to go back up by nine at 14-5.
Jaclyn Little added an up-goal late, but it wasn't enough and the Dutchmen fell 16-6.
Inside the Numbers
- Kelley finished with two goals on four shots to go along with four ground balls, one caused turnover, and one draw control.
- Venezia went for one goal and two assists.

Jen Eck scooped up four ground balls and caused a turnover and controlled a team-high six draws.

Hannah Oliveras made seven stops between the pipes and picked up four ground balls.

- Regan Cook led the way for the Spartans with five goals and one assist.
- York led in shots 33-15 and shots on goal at 23-9.
