ANNVILLE, Pa. – A couple of Lebanon Valley teams will begin postseason play this week. Women's basketball opens the action on the road on Monday night, while the men's ice hockey team will start its playoff push on Tuesday evening.
The women's basketball team finished the regular season 13-12 and 9-7 in conference play, good enough to earn the No. 5 seed in the 2019 MAC Commonwealth Championship Tournament. The Flying Dutchmen travel to take on No. 4 Arcadia in the tourney's play-in game this evening. LVC and the Knight split the season series, with the Dutchmen edging Arcadia 70-68 in Glenside on Jan. 9 before the Knights clipped LVC in Annville 52-46 back on Feb. 9. Fans can follow the action via live video and live stats, as well as on the radio at WMSS 91.1 FM and wmssfm.com.
Men's ice hockey snuck into postseason action in thrilling fashion. LVC needed a win on its final regular season game of the season, and the Dutchmen delivered in a big way, earning a 4-2 win over Stevenson on Feb. 16 to become the sixth and final seed of the UCHC Tournament. LVC, a team that went 9-14-2 and 7-9-2 in conference play, will play in the postseason for the second consecutive season. The No. 6 Dutchmen will travel to take on No. 3 Manhattanville in the quarterfinal round on Tuesday at 7 p.m. In the teams' first meeting back on Nov. 9 in Rye, N.Y., they played to a 2-2 tie, but LVC picked up an extra point thanks to a double overtime goal. The Valiants got revenge at Hersheypark Arena on Jan. 26 with a 7-3 win over the Dutchmen. Fans can follow the action via live video on LVCtv and live stats.
Admission to the women's basketball and men's ice hockey games is $6 for adults, $4 for seniors, and $2 for children and non-LVC students. Lebanon Valley students and children under the age of six will receive free admission.
