How It Happened
ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley dropped a low-scoring 55-42 decision to Albright in the Dutchmen's 12th annual Pink Game on Saturday afternoon in MAC Commonwealth women's basketball action inside a packed Sorrentino Gymnasium. LVC moved to 9-9, 5-4 MAC Commonwealth, while the Lions improved to 10-8, 5-4 MAC Commonwealth.

Both offensives struggled throughout the afternoon, particularly in the opening quarter. Neither team could find a rhythm, but LVC took a 4-3 lead with 2:04 remaining in the first after Anne Lehr's jumper. The visitors, however, scored the last four points of the quarter to take a 7-4 lead into the second.

In the second quarter, the Lions started out the period on a big run to take a commanding lead. Albright began the second on a 10-4 spurt and led 17-8 with 3:50 to go until halftime. With 41 seconds left, Caroline Scarff hit a pair of shots from the charity stripe to bring LVC to within seven at 21-14, but Albright's Zaria Mohamed knocked down a jumper on the visitor's ensuing possession to go up 23-14 heading into the third.

In the third, the Lions continued to lead and got ahead by as many as 18 points late in the period. LVC cut it to 15 with Lehr's free throw with six ticks left, but the Dutchmen still found themselves down 37-22 heading into the fourth. For much of the final quarter, the Lions held a comfortable lead, but with 2:58 remaining, Morgan Bamberger knocked down a 3-pointer to cut Albright's advantage to 10 at 41-31 to give the home team some signs of life. Down the stretch, though, the Lions were able to hold off LVC and went on to win 55-42.

Jersey Auction
In honor of today's event, Lebanon Valley auctioned off specially-designed jerseys that each player wore in today's contest only. Proceeds will be directed to the Genetics Program at the Penn State Health Cancer Institute, and all other proceeds will go towards the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.

For a Cure
Each year through the annual Pink Game jersey auction, the sale of Pink Game t-shirts, a bake sale run by LVC's Colleges Against Cancer (CAC), and the accepting of donations on the night of the contest, Lebanon Valley raises thousands of dollars for charitable organizations that aid in the prevention, detection, and treatment of cancer, including the Genetics Program at the Penn State Health Cancer Institute and the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.

Special Guest
Every year prior to tip-off, the women's basketball team is joined on the floor of Sorrentino Gymnasium by a number of longtime supporters of LVC's endeavor to spread awareness of cancer prevention, detection, and treatment. Although they're unable to attend in person, Dr. Jeanne Donlevy Arnold and Ed Arnold continue their generous backing of the College with a special check during the presentation ceremony. On the court for the check presentation will be President Lewis Thayne, head coach Amy Sokaitis, seniors Anne LehrJen Eck, and Ashley Kline, as well as Dr. Maria Baker who works in the Genetics Program of Penn State Health Center's Cancer Institute.

Who's Next?
The Dutchmen hit the road for Williamsport on Wednesday for a 6 p.m. matchup with conference foe Lycoming.
