How It Happened
READING, Pa. – Lebanon Valley outscored Alvernia 51-30 in the second power en route to a 68-56 win over the Golden Wolves on Saturday afternoon in MAC Commonwealth women's basketball action. The Dutchmen jumped to 9-7, 5-2 MAC Commonwealth, while Alvernia dropped to 3-13, 0-7 MAC Commonwealth.

Down by nine at 26-17 at the start of the third quarter, the Dutchmen woke up and opened up the quarter on a 10-5 run to come to within five at 32-27 with 6:19 left. After Alvernia's Gabriella DeVito knocked down a 3-pointer on the Golden Wolves ensuing possession, Morgan Bamberger hit a trey of her own, followed by Anne Lehr's fastbreak-layup. Lehr then hit back-to-back free throws, followed by Caroline Scarff's jumper and just like that, LVC was within one of Alvernia at 36-35 with 4:01 left in the third. Later, the Dutchmen got their first lead since early in the first quarter when Scarff hit another jumper, and Bamberger let off a 3-pointer to put the visitors ahead 41-37 with 1:40 left. The Dutchmen went on to score the final 10 points of the quarter and took a comfortable 46-37 lead into the fourth period.

LVC cruised in the fourth quarter and was never down by less than nine points. The Golden Wolves stayed semi-close in the early parts of the fourth, but with 5:45 to go, Bamberger hit yet another triple to put the Dutchmen ahead by 20 at 63-43 and put the game out of reach. LVC went on to win comfortable 68-56 after its slow start.

The Dutchmen struggled for most of the first half, as Alvernia began the contest on an 11-2 run and took a 12-4 advantage into the second quarter. In the second, the Golden Wolves were out in front by as many as 14 points, but LVC kept it within striking distance and with Emily Mealey's layup with 15 seconds left, the Dutchmen cut the deficit to nine at halftime at 26-17.
