How It Happened
GLENSIDE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley dropped a 3-0 match to Arcadia in the Flying Dutchmen's MAC Commonwealth opener on Wednesday night, Sept. 5. LVC fell to 1-4, 0-1 MAC Commonwealth, while the Knights improved to 4-1, 1-0 MAC Commonwealth.

In the opening set, things were close as a serving error by Arcadia brought LVC to within three points at 7-4. The Knights, however, rattled off four straight to take an 11-4 advantage, forcing the Dutchmen to burn a timeout. Later, with Arcadia ahead 13-5, LVC began to chip away and scored four straight points, including Jayna Class' service ace and a kill from Amanda Sides, to bring the Dutchmen to within four at 13-9. Arcadia had an answer later in the set and went on a 6-2 run to go up 19-11, guiding the Knights to a 25-19 opening-set win.

In the middle set, with the Dutchmen up 4-3, Jess Attieh notched a kill, followed by a service ace, and then Reily Shelly recorded a kill before an Arcadia attack error to take an 8-3 lead. Once again, though, the Knights responded, this time with six consecutive tallies to take a 9-8 advantage. The Dutchmen then went on a quick 3-0 spurt, led by Sides who registered a kill and a service ace, but the set of runs continued when the Knights scored four in a row to open up a 14-11 lead. For the remainder of the set, the Dutchmen were unable to get any closer and fell 25-17.

The third and final set was close early on with the Knights leading 9-7. Later, LVC made it 11-10, but a 3-0 run by Arcadia put it up by four at 14-10. The Dutchmen came to within three at 18-15 thanks to a service error, but were unable to get any closer and dropped the third set 25-17.
