Women's Tennis Comes Up Short In Season Opener

ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley's women's tennis team opened the fall portion of its 2018-19 season with an 8-1 loss to a talented York (Pa.) squad at the Shankroff Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 16.

Doubles play could have gone either way, with each of the three contests remaining close midway through the duration. In the end, however, it was the Spartans (1-0) pulling out the victory in all three outings to give the visitors a 3-0 advantage heading into singles action.

Meridyth Sanders picked up the first solo win of the year for LVC (0-1) when she defeated Jessica Sherman 7-5, 6-4 in the No. 4 contest. Emily Wilczek also battled to three sets in her match with Maisie Supp before dropping the hotly-contested outing 2-6, 6-3, 10-2 in the No. 3 pairing.

The Flying Dutchmen return to action when they travel to Susquehanna on Saturday afternoon, Sept. 22.
