How It Happened
CORTLAND, N.Y. – Lebanon Valley began its 2018 season at the Cortland Red Dragon Classic, hosted by SUNY Cortland, on Friday evening. In the Dutchmen's opening match, LVC lost a hard-fought five-setter to Fredonia, followed by a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Rochester.
The box score for LVC's match against Fredonia will be made available on Saturday.
Freshman
Reily Shelly led the way offensive for LVC, totaling 13 kills while digging out four balls.
Jayna Class recorded 11 kills and registered four blocks, and
Jensen Burnheimer had 25 assists and a pair of blocks.
Erin Koons had 20 assists, while
Jess Attieh finished with eight kills and six digs.
Mikiah Sangrey made her collegiate debut and dug out 13 balls with
Adrianna Lattanzi adding 12 digs.
Emily Smeltz paced LVC in digs with 14. Smeltz, Koons,
Amanda Sides, and Sangrey served up two aces apiece.
Rochester def. Lebanon Valley 3-0 (28-30, 15-25, 14-25)
In the Dutchmen's second match of the day, LVC fell to Rochester by a 3-0 margin (28-30, 15-25, 14-25).
Attieh led the way with 10 kills, while Shelly had five kills and Sides picked up for kills. Koons added 11 assists in the match and
Olivia Gregory notched nine assists in her first-ever collegiate game.
Who's Next?
The Cortland Red Dragon Classic concludes tomorrow with LVC taking on Oneonta at 10 a.m., followed by a match against D'Youville at 12:30 p.m.
