How It Happened
Lebanon Valley was unable to hold off a late-charging Lycoming squad in the team's 5-4 loss in the opening contest of a conference doubleheader at LVC Softball Park on Sunday afternoon, April 8.
After falling behind 3-0 in the early going, the Flying Dutchmen (8-7, 4-3 MAC Commonwealth) tied things up in the bottom of the third thanks to
Annie McClain's double to left center field that plated
Jen Kaufman and
Robin Feaster and a Lyco error that allowed McClain to score from second base before the inning was out.
LVC grabbed its first lead of the day when
Cheyanne Brown roped a triple into the gap in right center field and drove in Feaster in the process in the bottom of the fourth but the Warriors (6-11, 1-4 MAC Commonwealth) drew even in the top of the next stanza when Madison Brown's single up the middle scored Ashley Schoenstadt.
Brown struck again for Lyco when she singled in what proved to be the winning run with two away in the top of the seventh.

Tianna Yanoscak led off the bottom of the seventh with a double to deep right center field but Lycoming prevented the Dutchmen from bringing her around to escape the opener with a victory by the slimmest of margins.
