How It Happened
Lebanon Valley broke open a late-game tie to take game one of a MAC Commonwealth doubleheader at Messiah by a 5-2 score on Wednesday afternoon, April 11.
The Flying Dutchmen (10-7, 6-3 MAC Commonwealth) took advantage of a pair of Messiah errors and came through with two timely hits in the top of the seventh inning to break a 2-2 tie.
Cheyanne Brown led off the frame with a single and
Annie McClain got on base with a walk. With two away,
Tianna Yanoscak drove in the go-ahead run with a single up the middle and an error by Falcon pitcher Madelyn Yannetti allowed her and
Savannah Toth to come around.
Starter
Maddie Abbot sat down Messiah (16-13, 7-2 MAC Commonwealth)) 1-2-3 in the bottom of the seventh to clinch the valuable conference victory for LVC.
Kristi Langhans got the Dutchmen on the board first with the first home run of her career; a solo shot over the left field fence in the top of the fourth stanza.
The Falcons answered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth but
Kate Whelski drew her team even when she led off the top of the sixth with a dinger to left center field.

Maddie Abbot turned in another stellar outing in earning the complete-game victory for LVC. She scattered five hits and allowed just two runs to go along with three strikeouts.
- Joy Kolakowski got the start for Messiah and allowed three earned runs on eight hits and three walks. She also struck out five batters.
- Madelyn Yannetti made a relief appearance for the Falcons and allowed an unearned run on one hit and a walk in 0.2 innings of action.

Kate Whelski's solo home run was her second long ball of the season.

Kristi Langhans homer was the first of her young career and along with Whelski's shot, accounted for the team's two extra-base hits.
- Haylee Anders was the only Messiah player to record a multi-hit game.

How It Happened
Messiah scored all of its runs in the fifth and sixth innings of a 5-0 victory over Lebanon Valley in game two of a conference doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon, April 11.
The Falcons (17-13, 8-2 MAC Commonwealth) broke a scoreless tie when Erin Cressman drove in a pair of runs with an RBI single in the bottom of the fifth stanza before padding their advantage with three more runs in the bottom of the sixth.
LVC (10-8, 6-4 MAC Commonwealth) moved runners into scoring position in the second, third, and sixth innings, respectively, but were unable to push any of them across to begin the rally they needed to take control of the game.

Lexi Windsor got the start for LVC and allowed 13 hits but just a pair of earned runs in the nightcap.
- Carrie Fix got the shutout victory for Messiah after surrendering just five hits to go along with five strikeouts.
At the Plate

Robin Feaster was a perfect 3-for-3 at the dish.

Savannah Toth was the second Dutchman to record a multi-hit game with two base knocks.
- All six LVC hits were singles.
- Amber Bingaman was 3-for-4 at the plate for Messiah, while Erin Cressman recorded a game-high two RBI.
Around the Diamond
- LVC committed the lone error of the game, leading to a pair of unearned runs for the Falcons.
- The teams were conservative on the base paths, with neither attempting a steal.
