How It Happened
Lebanon Valley jumped out to an early lead and held off a charge by Gettysburg in the middle innings to earn a 7-4 victory in game one of a non-conference doubleheader at the LVC Softball Park on Thursday afternoon, April 12.

After Lexi Windsor worked a 1-2-3 top of the first, Annie McClain got the Flying Dutchmen (11-8) on the board in the bottom of the stanza with a single down the left field line that allowed Kate Whelski to score from second base.

LVC doubled its advantage in the bottom of the third when Savannah Toth's RBI groundout to second base plated Whelski. Then it was Whelski's turn to drive a few in when she singled up the middle with two away to score Cheyanne Brown and Robin Feaster in the bottom of the fourth frame.

The Bullets (10-11) made things interesting when they cut the deficit to one thanks to four hits and a walk in the top of the fifth but Windsor worked out of it and stranded a runner on third base to end the inning.

The Dutchmen added three insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth thanks to five hits. McClain's two-out single scored Mackenzie Hasenauer before Toth went back up the middle with a ball to allow Brown and McClain to come around.

How It Happened
Lebanon Valley twice erased deficits but was unable to complete the comeback in the team's 6-4 loss to Gettysburg in the second game of a non-conference doubleheader at the LVC Softball Park on Thursday afternoon, April 12.

With the game tied 4-4 in the top of the sixth, the Bullets (11-11) used a double, a bunt single, and an LVC error to score what proved to be the game-winning runs. The Flying Dutchmen (11-9) loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh inning but were unable to bring any runs across.

Trailing 4-2 in the bottom of the fourth, LVC drew even with Gettysburg when Madison Watson's sacrifice fly plated Mackenzie Hasenauer and Kristi Langhans' bunt single allowed Tianna Yanoscak to score from third on back-to-back at-bats.

After falling behind 1-0 in the early going, the Dutchmen took the lead in the bottom of the first frame when Yanoscak singled to right field and allowed Savannah Toth to cross the plate. Yanoscak's two-out base knock came one at-bat after Toth's pop up in the infield was misplayed by the Bullets, allowing Cheyanne Brown to score from third base.

Gettysburg reclaimed the lead when Wendy Folfas got hold of a pitch and lofted it just inside the foul pole and over the fence in left field for a three-run home run that forced LVC to play catch up for nearly the rest of afternoon.
