Women's Tennis Rolls In Regular Season Finale

ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley's women's tennis team clinched a home playoff match thanks to an 8-1 victory over conference foe Albright at the Shankroff Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon, April 28.

With the Lions (0-17, 0-7 MAC Commonwealth) short on players, LVC (10-6, 6-1 MAC Commonwealth) earned three forfeit victories in doubles action, with the top team of Marla Scacchitti and Melanie Haas, the No. 2 duo of Megan Williams and Sammy Bost, and the No. 3 pairing of Elise Hanks-Witaszek and Emily Wilczek being credited with wins.

Bost earned a 6-0, 6-0 sweep over Albright Mary Kramer in the No. 2 singles contest, while Williams added the second sweep of solo play for the Flying Dutchmen with a 6-0, 6-0 decision over Victoria Metzinger in the third spot. Elizabeth Drda, Meridyth Sanders, and Hanks-Witaszek were awarded victories in the No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6 slots, respectively.

LVC will now turn its attention to the postseason. The squad clinched the No. 2 seed in the upcoming MAC Commonwealth Championship Tournament thanks to Saturday's win.

The Dutchmen made a run to the MAC Commonwealth Championship Match last spring and will begin their quest to return to the title contest when they host Lycoming in semifinal action on Tuesday afternoon, May 1.
