How It Happened
Lebanon Valley's bats overpowered Franklin & Marshall en route a 14-8 victory in an offensive slugfest in the opening contest of a non-conference doubleheader at F&M on Thursday afternoon, April 19.
After falling behind 3-0 after one inning, the Flying Dutchmen (15-10) used nine hits to score to score nine runs in the top of the second.
Rachel Costantini sparked the rally with a triple that drove in
Robin Feaster and
Rylee Shockley. Shockley showed off her power later in the frame when she smashed a two-run homer over the left field fence.
LVC added three more runs in the top of the third, starting with a
Savannah Toth single that scored
Jen Kaufman before a
Mackenzie Hasenauer two-out single through the left side allowed Toth and
Robin Feaster to come around.
The Diplomats (14-15) mounted a bit of a comeback by scoring two in the bottom of the third and two more in the bottom of the fourth but LVC hurler
Sarah Musselman was able to able to get out of each stanza with limited damage.
The Dutchmen tacked on a pair of insurance runs in the top of the seventh when a Costantini double drove in Musselman and Hasenauer's two-out single scored Shockley.
Inside the Circle

Lexi Windsor go the start for LVC and threw the first two innings. She scattered eight hits and allowed three runs.

Sarah Musselman finished off the final five innings and earned the win. She settled in nicely in the late stages after allowing five runs on eight hits and three walks.
- Izzy Schaefer took the loss for F&M after throwing the first 1.2 innings and allowing eight runs on seven hits and two walks.
- Katie Wenger spelled Schaefer and threw one inning in a relief role, surrendering four runs on seven hits and a pair of walks.
- Sabrina Ryan threw the final 4.1 innings for the Dips and gave up two runs on six hits.
At the Plate

Rachel Costantini had a big game and finished a home run shy of the cycle. She drove in three runs and scored another.

Robin Feaster,
Rylee Shockley, and
Mackenzie Hasenauer also had three-hit games, with Shockley adding a double and three runs scored, Feaster scoring three times, and Hausenauer racking up four RBI.

Savannah Toth finished 2-for-3 with three RBI and a pair of runs scored as the DP.
- In total, LVC racked up 20 hits and four walks in the opener.
Around the Diamond
- The Dutchmen swiped four bags, with
Mackenzie Hasenauer taking two and
Cheyanne Brown and
Jen Kaufman stealing one apiece.
- Sam Clemens stole F&M's only base.
- For a contest with 22 runs, the game was nearly clean on defense. LVC committed the game's lone error but it did not lead to any unearned runs.

How It Happened
Lebanon Valley dropped a 9-5 decision to Franklin & Marshall in the second game of a non-conference doubleheader in Lancaster, Pa. on Thursday afternoon, April 19.
The Flying Dutchmen (15-11) struck early in the contest when
Annie McClain's RBI groundout that scored
Cheyanne Brown was followed by another RBI groundout from
Savannah Toth that brought
Jen Kaufman across in the top of the first inning.
F&M (15-15) responded by scoring four runs in the bottom of the opening frame but the Dutchmen were able to cut the deficit in half when Kaufman's single down the left field line drove in
Sarah Musselman in the third. LVC eventually drew even in the top of the fourth when
Cheyanne Brown's RBI groundout plated
Robin Feaster from third base.
Things remained tight until a Sammy Burns double scored a pair of runs for the Diplomats in the bottom of the fifth. The home team tacked on an unearned run before the half inning was out and added two more in the bottom of the sixth.
The Dutchmen picked up a run in the top of the seventh when Feaster's RBI single brought Toth across with two outs but that's as close as LVC would get.

Lexi Windsor suffered the loss for LVC after allowing seven earned runs on 13 hits and a walk in six innings.
- Izzy Schaefer earned the victory for the Dips. She gave up four earned runs on 12 hits in seven innings of work.
At the Plate

Tianna Yanoscak and
Robin Feaster each recorded three-hit games, with Yanoscak's double ending up as LVC's lone extra-base hit.

Jen Kaufman went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored from the two spot.
- Sammy Burns drove in a game-high three runs for F&M.
Around the Diamond
- The Dutchmen left nine runners on base, including seven in scoring position.
- Each team committed three errors. LVC's miscues led to two unearned runs, while F&M's led to one unearned tally.

Jen Kaufman recorded the only stolen base of the game for the Dutchmen.
