How It Happened
ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley held off a late charge by King's (Pa.) and defeated the Lady Monarchs 18-13 on Thursday night in non-conference women's lacrosse action. The Dutchmen brought their record even to 3-3, while King's dropped to 2-6.
In the opening half, after the Lady Monarchs jumped out to a quick 2-1 advantage, the Dutchmen went on an impressive 7-0 run, spanning from 24:38 to 16:07, to take a commanding 8-2 lead. The high-scoring first half featured five more LVC goals, including two from
Veronica Venezia, and the Dutchmen went into the second half up 13-5. Venezia netted four goals in the first half to go along with three assists.
The Dutchmen began the second half by netting five straight, including three from
Makenzie Kelley, and one from
Emma Jones and
Brenna O'Neill, to increase their lead to 17-5. The visitors made things a bit interesting from there, scoring five straight to come to within seven at 17-10.
Jaclyn Little stopped the bleeding by scoring at 6:12 to make it 18-10, however, and despite three more goals by the Lady Monarchs at the end, LVC was able to hold on for the 18-13 victory.
Inside the Numbers
- Venezia registered four goals and six assists to go along with four caused turnovers and seven draw controls.
- Kelley scored a game-high five goals and controlled seven draws.
- Little netted four scores on six shots for LVC.

Kirsten Bannan and
Emma Jones each netted a pair, while Jones scooped up two ground balls, caused two turnovers, and controlled a pair of draws.

Emily Mackey controlled five draws for LVC.

Hannah Oliveras earned her first win of the season between the pipes, making five stops and scooping up a team-high five ground balls.
- King's was led offensively by Kylie McCarthy, who scored four goals and picked up four ground balls.
- The Dutchmen led in shots (32-23) and shots on goal (20-18).
- LVC dominated in draw controls at 24-8.
