How It Happened
GLENSIDE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley's women's basketball team bounced back after a loss this past Saturday and defeated Arcadia 66-52 on Wednesday night in MAC Commonwealth action. The Dutchmen improved to 14-9, 9-5 MAC Commonwealth, while the Knights dropped to 8-14, 3-10 MAC Commonwealth.
At the start of the second quarter with LVC up by three at 18-15,
Becky Evans landed a jumper with 9:21 to increase the Dutchmen's lead to 20-15. Later,
Anne Lehr made a layup, followed by two free throws from
Jen Kaufman to make it a nine-point LVC advantage at 24-15 with 5:24 remaining in the second period. Later in the second, with the Dutchmen up 29-17,
Caroline Scarff hit a jumper in the paint and
Morgan Bamberger drilled a 3-pointer on the ensuing LVC offensive play, to put the Dutchmen up by 17 at 34-17 with 2:39 to go. Arcadia got a little closer from there, but LVC still went into halftime with a comfortable 15-point advantage at 37-22.
The Dutchmen ended up outscoring the Knights 19-7 in the second quarter, and that proved to be the difference in the game, as LVC never let Arcadia come close in the second half. The Dutchmen were ahead by as many as 20 points in the third, when Evans made a layup with 3:39 to go to put LVC up 48-28. The Dutchmen continued to cruise in the fourth and never let the score get close en route to the 66-52 win.
The Knights kept things close in the opening period, as it was a 10-9 score in favor of Arcadia 5:30 into the first. Later, with the game knotted at 13-13 with 2:25 remaining, LVC went on a 5-2 run to end the quarter, capped by a Mealey layup, to go into the second with an 18-15 lead.
Inside the Numbers
 - Evans had a game-high 19 points and she added five assists and four steals in 31 minutes of action.
 - Mealey was also in double-digits in points with 14, and the rookie added six boards.
 - Bamberger scored nine points on three triples.
 - Scarff chipped in six points, five rebounds, and a pair of steals.
 - Lehr brought down six rebounds and picked up four assists and stole two balls.
 - For Arcadia, Taylor Dunn (13), Jamie Manzo (11), and Taylor Fritz (10) were in double-digits in points.
 - The Dutchmen outshot the Knights 47.3 to 31.6-percent.
 - Arcadia held a slight edge in total rebounds at 36-34.
 - LVC turned 22 Arcadia turnovers into 18 points.
Playoff Picture
The Dutchmen have clinched a spot in the upcoming MAC Commonwealth Tournament, but their position is yet to be determined. LVC has a 9-5 conference mark and sits in fourth place, while Lycoming is in third right now at 10-3.
Who's Next?
LVC is off this weekend and is set for a showdown in Williamsport on Tuesday, Feb. 13 against Lycoming at 6 p.m.
