How It Happened
HERSHEY, Pa. - A memorable Lebanon Valley men's ice hockey season finally came to an end of Wednesday night when the third-seeded Dutchmen fell to sixth-seeded Knights of Neumann University by a 3-1 margin in the 2018 United States Hockey Conference (UCHC) Championship Tournament Quarterfinals. The Dutchmen finished the season at 12-10-2, while Neumann advanced to the semifinals at Utica on Saturday.

The Knights were the first to light the lamp when Paul Butler scored on a slap shot just 2:17 into the opening period, giving Neumann the early advantage. LVC got even at 8:49 when Cole Hepler netted a goal off of a pretty give-and-go pass from Mike Straub. From there, the game remained scoreless heading into the second period.

The middle period proved to be a decisive one for the Knights. Just as a penalty against the Dutchmen expired, Neumann's Zac Boyle broke the 1-1 tie from Joe Mitchell and Nick Minerva. Later in the period, at 11:58, Glenn Florczak made it a two-goal game, a hole that the Dutchmen were never able to get out of. LVC's offense was stymied from there on out, and it was never able to get another past the Knights en route to the 3-1 loss.

Inside the Numbers
 - Hepler tallied the Dutchmen's lone goal on the evening and he totaled four shots on goal.

 - LVC held the edge in total faceoff wins at 41-28.
 - Hepler went 11-for-15 from inside the faceoff circle.
 - Karas won 7-of-11 faceoffs for the Dutchmen.
 - This was LVC's first time in an NCAA DIII Conference's Championship Tournament since the 2003-04 season.
 - Neumann now heads to New York to battle No. 1 Utica in the semifinal round on Saturday. The other semifinal-round game will be No. 5 Elmira at No. 2 Stevenson.
