How It Happened
RYE, N.Y. – Lebanon Valley came to within a goal of tying the game in the third period, but Manhattanville held on for a 5-4 win on Saturday night in UCHC men's hockey action. The Dutchmen, who clinched a spot in the upcoming UCHC Tournament last night, now sit at 10-9-2, 9-4-2 UCHC, while the Valiants, who locked up a playoff spot tonight, now sit at 11-7-5, 8-4-2 UCHC.
7:51 into the opening period, M-Ville's Jared Martin put the Valiants up 1-0. Soon after, at 9:01,
Zach McKown tied things up at 1-1 thanks to a goal off an assist from
Kevin Van Bokkelen. With just under four minutes remaining in the first, Martin netted his second of the period to give M-Ville a 2-1 lead heading into the second.
Just 13 seconds into the second, Cory Anderson scored to put the Valiants ahead by a 3-1 margin. Later in the period, at 10:09,
TJ Sneath found the back of the net from
Zach Balodis and McKown to cut into M-Ville's lead and make it 3-2. Four minutes later, Van Bokkelen tied the game for the Dutchmen off assists from
Cole Hepler and
Jared Karas. The back-and-forth action continued 23 seconds later when Ken McLean put the Valiants back on top at 4-3.
In the third period, at the 4:45 mark, Anderson put M-Ville ahead by two tallies at 5-3, but near the middle of the period, LVC responded when Sneath netted his second of the game, this time from Balodis and
Brennan Thompson, but the Dutchmen were unable to tie things up in the closing minutes despite pulling the goalie with over a minute left for an extra attacker.

- McKown and Van Bokkelen ended with a goal and an assist apiece, while Van Bokkelen skated to a +2 rating.

LVC hops out of UCHC action for one game when the Dutchmen play host to Bryn Athyn next Friday inside Hersheypark Arena at 7 p.m. before finishing up regular-season action next Saturday at home against Elmira.
