How It Happened
REISTERSTOWN, Md.Travis Acker netted a goal with 5:28 remaining in the third period to break a 0-0 tie and propel Lebanon Valley to a 1-0 victory over Stevenson in a very chippy UCHC and MAC men's ice hockey game on Friday night. The Dutchmen improved to 4-3-2, 3-2-2 UCHC, 2-0-1 MAC, while the Mustangs dropped to 5-6-0, 3-5-0 UCHC, 1-3-0 MAC.

With just over seven minutes to go in the third period, Stevenson was called for a major boarding penalty, allowing LVC to go on the extended man-advantage for an attempt to break the 0-0 tie. A minute and 21 seconds later, Acker found the back of the net off assists from TJ Sneath and Brad Nolan to give LVC the huge 1-0 lead.

The Dutchmen remained on the power-play for the next several minutes, but were unable to pad their advantage. Then, with 90 ticks left on the clock, Stevenson pulled its goalie to bring out an extra attacker. Nick Sorgio was brilliant tonight and remained stellar even with the Mustangs' extra attacker on the ice, as he stopped Nick Gray's shot in the final seconds to preserve the lead. A scrum broke out as time expired after Stevenson committed another penalty for contact to the head and a slew of penalties were dished out at the end of the game. Nevertheless, LVC escaped Reisterstown with the huge UCHC and MAC victory.
