How It Happened
SCRANTON, Pa. – Three Lebanon Valley players were in double figures in points as the Flying Dutchmen rallied and edged Marywood 63-60 on Monday evening in non-conference women's basketball action. LVC improved to 6-5, while the Pacers dropped to 4-7.

Down by eight heading at 32-26 into second-half action, the Dutchmen slowly began their comeback in the early stages of the third quarter when they began the period on a 10-4 spurt, capped by Emily Mealey's layup, to even the game at 36-36 with 6:01 left in the third. Mealey then went on to sink a free throw, followed by a layup to increase LVC's advantage to three at 39-36, and Morgan Bamberger then connected on a layup, followed by Jen Eck's jumper to make it a 43-36 game in favor of the visitors. The home team finally got on the board with back-to-back layups, and the Pacers later came to within two at 47-45 with 34 seconds left in the third, but with five seconds to go, Mealey knocked down a pair of shots from the charity stripe to take a four-point advantage (49-45) into the fourth quarter.

After Marywood took a slight 51-49 lead with 6:56 remaining the contest, Mealey answered with a layup to even the score at 51-51. After an Eck steal on the Pacers' ensuing possession, Bamberger came down the court and drilled a 3-pointer at 5:01 to give LVC a three-point lead at 54-51. The home team then netted four consecutive points to take a 55-54 advantage with 2:41 left, but Bamberger answered with another triple at 2:21, giving the lead back to the Dutchmen at 57-55. Kilie Wyers, however, responded with a trey of her own with two minutes to go, putting Marywood back on top at 58-57, but Lehr hit two shots from the charity stripe to make it a 59-58 lead for LVC with 1:31 left. With 1:11 to go, Natasha Hessling hit a jumper to give the Pacers a 60-59 advantage in back-and-forth action, but with 53 ticks to go, Lehr's jumper put LVC on top at 61-60. With 17 seconds left, Marywood's Alyssa Olson was fouled, but missed both free throws. The Pacers got the rebound on the second shot but couldn't convert, as Mealey came down with a huge rebound and Lehr made both free throws, allowing the Dutchmen to escape Scranton with a narrow 63-60 win.

In the first quarter, the Pacers hopped out to a 13-6 lead after Hessling's layup with 6:27 to go. From there, LVC chipped away and went on an 8-2 run, capped by Megan Bisco's 3-pointer, to come to within one of Marywood at 15-14 with 1:58 left. The Pacers held a slight 17-16 advantage after one quarter of action. In the second, the home team led by as many as eight, but LVC never let the game get out of hand and the Dutchmen found themselves down by just six heading into halftime before outscoring the Pacers 23-13 in the third en route to the narrow victory.
