How It Happened
HERSHEY, Pa. – Lebanon Valley suffered a 4-0 defeat to Nazareth College on Friday afternoon in United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) men's ice hockey action. The Dutchmen slipped to 2-2-2, 1-2-2 UCHC, while the Golden Flyers stayed undefeated and improved to 4-0-3, 2-0-2 UCHC.
At nearly the midway point of the first period, LVC took a five-minute major, resulting in an extended power play for Nazareth. The Golden Flyers took advantage twice, netting a goal at 13:29, followed by another tally on the man-advantage at 16:14. From there, the Dutchmen held off the visitors for the remainder of the penalty, but couldn't push a goal past Nazareth's Sean Kuhn, and LVC went into the first intermission down by a pair of scores.
5:24 into the middle period, the Golden Flyers extended their lead to three when Matt Manzella's goal made it 3-0. For the rest of the period, LVC held off Nazareth's offense and killed a few penalties, but the visitors were still ahead 3-0 after two periods of action.
