ANNVILLE, Pa. – Continuing an age-old tradition following a football defeat of Albright, hundreds of Lebanon Valley College students marched up the hill to the president's residence on Monday afternoon and demanded the cancellation of classes on the day before Thanksgiving. Students first asked for a whole week off, but that obviously didn't fly. Instead, President Lewis E. Thayne accepted the students' request of the day off, much to the students' delight.

Lebanon Valley defeated Albright 30-24 in double overtime this past Saturday for just the third time since 1994, triggering the traditional march. Led by the football team, the student body marched from Arnold Field across the bridge that rises over Rt. 934 to Kreiderheim, the president's residence.
Led by seniors and team captains, the football squad and those students in tow made their demands know to President Thayne. Thayne, experiencing the tradition for the second time during his stead, had no choice but to give the entire day before Thanksgiving off. That day is usually a half-day of classes.
