Volleyball Breezes Past Blazers

Lebanon Valley def. Hood 3-0 (25-20, 25-18, 25-11)

How It Happened
FREDERICK, Md. – Lebanon Valley's volleyball team bounced back with a 3-0 victory over Hood on Tuesday night in MAC Commonwealth action. The Dutchmen jumped to 12-9, 3-2 MACC, while the Blazers dropped to 11-9, 1-4 MACC.

LVC opened up a quick 9-5 advantage in the opening set, however Hood continued to hang around in the set as the Dutchmen weren't able to take a commanding lead. Then, with LVC ahead 21-14, the Blazers scored five consecutive points to come to within two of the Dutchmen at 21-19. Jayna Class and Jess Attieh stopped the bleeding with back-to-back kills to increase LVC's margin to 23-19, and after Hood got a kill from Elena Zinaich, the Blazers committed to straight attack errors to give LVC the 25-20 first-set win.

In the second set, the Dutchmen were again on top midway through with a 10-7 lead. Four consecutive points from LVC extended its advantage to 14-7 and forced Hood to burn a timeout. The Blazers responded with an 11-6 run to come to within two at 20-18, but the Dutchmen shut the door quickly and scored the set's final five points, including two kills from Class and one from Amanda Sides, then Kaitlyn Reed finished off the Blazers with a service ace for the 25-18 second-set victory.

The Dutchmen cruised in the third set and never let Hood get close, thanks to a 10-1 run to begin the set. From there, LVC held on to the sizable advantage, and on match point, Reina Eckman picked up the set and match-clinching block for the Dutchmen's key conference win.
