How it Happened
GLENSIDE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley's volleyball team battled Arcadia in the 2018 MAC Commonwealth Semifinals, but eventually fell by a 3-1 margin on Wednesday night, Oct. 31. Th Dutchmen fell to 17-12 while the Knights advanced to the conference championship and moved to 22-11.

After dropping the opening set 25-16, LVC battled back in the second set and opened the frame on a 6-0 run. Arcadia, however, answered with a 14-7 run to overtake the Dutchmen at 14-13. After an LVC timeout, the 2018 MAC Commonwealth Rookie of the Year, Reily Shelly, stopped the bleeding and registered a kill from Emily Smeltz to even the set at 14-14. The newly-named Conference Player of the Year, Jess Attieh, then served up an ace to put LVC back on top at 15-14. Later, with the set tied at 17-17, the Dutchmen went on a key 3-0 run to go up 20-17. LVC didn't let the Knights get any closer and eventually won the set 25-20 to tie the match at 1-1.

Arcadia took the next set 25-20 to go up 2-1, so LVC needed to buckle down and take the fourth, however it wasn't to be. With the Knights up 8-5 in the fourth, they went on a significant 5-0 run to take a 13-5 lead. The Dutchmen tried to battle back, but Arcadia wouldn't allow it and the Knights went on to take the fourth by a 25-10 margin to win the match 3-1.
