How It Happened
GRANTHAM, Pa.
– Lebanon Valley's field hockey team fell to No. 1 Messiah in the 2018 MAC Commonwealth Semifinals on Wednesday night, Oct. 31. The Dutchmen's season ended at 9-10, while the Falcons moved on to the championship game on Saturday against Arcadia.

Just 1:04 into the contest, Hannah Palm found the back of the net to give Messiah an early advantage. Two minutes later, Kezia Loht scored to increase the Falcons' advantage to 2-0. LVC continued to battle and in the 13th minute, the Dutchmen drew a penalty corner. Faith Dinger passed the ball to Hannah Simon, but her shot was saved. Just over a minute later, Messiah scored again to make it a 3-0 score. The Falcons tacked on two more in the first to take a 5-0 lead heading into halftime.

In the second half, Messiah added two more goals to make it 7-0. In the later stages of the half, Rachel Kagarise got a shot on goal, however Megan Bomba was there to make the save. The Dutchmen, however, were award a penalty corner, but nothing came of it and LVC eventually fell by a 7-0 margin.

Inside the Numbers
 - Kagarise and Simon finished with a shot on goal apiece.
 - Cecile Kat, the newly-named MAC Commonwealth Co-Offensive Player of the Year, was held in check by the Falcons' defense.
 - Tori ByDeLey made three stops in net for LVC.
 - Messiah led it total shots at 23-2 and also held the edge in penalty corners at 17-2.

That's A Wrap
Tonight's game marks the end of LVC's 2018 campaign. The Dutchmen performed well throughout the season, especially late in conference action to clinch a spot in the postseason.
