How It Happened
CHESTER, Pa. –
Cecile Kat scored a goal in each half to guide Lebanon Valley to a 2-1 victory over Widener on Saturday afternoon in MAC Commonwealth field hockey action. The Dutchmen improved to 8-8, 3-3 MACC, while the Pride slipped to 7-7, 2-4 MACC.
With the game tied at 1-1 at 58:03,
Danielle Alba crossed a ball from the left side and Kat kept the ball low and beat Byrne to break the 1-1 tie and put LVC ahead. From there, the Dutchmen defense and
Nikki Willi shut down Widener and just allowed one penalty corner en route to the 2-1 conference victory.
Kat got the scoring going early, as
Taylor Pentz sent a long pass up the middle for Kat at 11:09 and she found the back of the net to give the Dutchmen an early lead. Then, at 19:29, the Pride evened the score when Madi Radnoff scored on a penalty stroke to tie things up.
Inside the Numbers
 - Kat netted her conference-leading 20th and 21st goals this afternoon.
 - Willi earned the victory after making eight saves for the Dutchmen.
 - Pentz and
Mikayla Poole registered a shot on goal each.
 - Widener led in shots (16-10) and shots on goal (9-5).
 - The Pride also held the edge in penalty corners at 10-5.

Playoff Picture
Messiah (6-0) and Arcadia (5-1) have wrapped up playoff spots, but the third and fourth seeds are yet to be determined. Alvernia currently holds the third spot (3-2), while the Dutchmen are sitting in the fourth and final spot (3-3).
