Penn State Harrisburg 6, Lebanon Valley 3
MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Lebanon Valley's women's tennis team dropped a 6-3 match to Penn State Harrisburg on Tuesday at Hoverter Tennis Complex. The Dutchmen fell to 0-3, while the Lions jumped to 2-2.
In a No. 1 doubles showdown,
Melanie Haas and
Emily Wilczek battled, but eventually suffered a hard-fought loss to Sydney Nye and Elyse Mellott by an 8-6 score.
Leah Wingert and
Elizabeth Drda were also edged in an 8-6 match by Courtney Bennett and Claire Hackenberg in No. 3 singles.
Melanie Haas cruised in No. 1 singles after defeating Nye 6-1, 6-3. In No. 4 singles,
Meridyth Sanders continued a strong fall when she downed Mellott 7-6, 6-3 to pick up the vitory. Finally, in No. 6 singles, Wingert earned a win for the Flying Dutchmen with a three-set win at 6-3, 1-6, 6-3.
LVC returns to action on Friday, Oct. 12 at Scranton at 3:30 p.m.
