SCRANTON, Pa. – Lebanon Valley's women's tennis squad fell to Scranton by an 8-1 margin on Friday afternoon at Royal Courts. The Dutchmen fell to 0-4, while the Royals jumped to 3-0.
At No. 1 doubles,
Melanie Haas and
Emily Wilczek were defeated by Emilia Jakubek and Tatiana Klacko 8-2, while
Meridyth Sanders and
Rachel Duong fell to Emily Kelly and Nastashia DeNunzio 8-1 at No. 2 doubles.
Kaitlyn Welch and
Leah Wingert wrapped up doubles actions by dropping an 8-0 set to Elyse Smilnak and Claire Loughlin.
Haas fell 6-2, 6-2 to DeNunzio at No. 1 singles and Duong fell 6-0, 6-0 to Jakubek at No. 2 singles. Sanders picked up a hard-fought win at No. 3 singles after defeating Lindsay Roberto 6-4, 3-6, 10-7. Wilczek (7-5, 6-0),
Zoe Birch (6-3, 6-4), and Wingert (6-1, 6-1) each fell in No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6 singles, respectively.
The Dutchmen wrap up fall action on Oct. 20 and 21 when LVC plays in the MAC Individual Championships in Wilkes-Barre.
