Series History
Saturday's game between the Dutchmen and Aggies will be the 36th all-time meeting. Delaware Valley holds a 23-12 overall record and LVC's last win over the Aggies came on Nov. 2, 2013 when the Dutchmen won a 34-31 OT-thriller. These two teams first met on Nov. 13, 1965 when LVC defeated Del Val 34-18 here in Annville.

Last Year Against Del Val
Lebanon Valley ran into a juggernaut in one of the best teams in the nation this weekend. No. 5 Delaware Valley showed why it was an NCAA Division III national-championship contender in a 35-0 MAC victory at James Work Memorial Stadium back on Oct. 28, 2017. The undefeated Aggies (8-0, 7-0 MAC) flexed their muscle right out of the gate when tailback Devauntay Ellis broke off a 55-yard touchdown run on DVU's opening drive to put the home team out in front 7-0 less than three minutes into the game. The Flying Dutchmen (4-4, 4-3 MAC) flashed their defensive prowess when safety Zachary Adams halted Delaware Valley's next drive by picking off quarterback Dashawn Darden at the LVC 17-yard line and returning it 20 yards. The story of the game, however, was Lebanon Valley's inability to move the ball against the Aggies' defense. The Dutchmen were unable to pick up a first down in the first half after four three-and-outs and totaled just six yards of total offense. DVU on the other hand, had little trouble amassing points, adding a second touchdown on the second play of the second quarter to double its advantage. The Aggies' next possession also wrapped up in the end zone, this time after 10 plays and a 46-yard march. The backbreaker for LVC came when quarterback Tyler Sterner threw an interception on the first play of a drive that began at the team's own 38-yard line with 3:11 left in the second quarter. Del Val moved 43 yards in five plays and Ellis added another touchdown run, this one from five yards out, to cushion the advantage heading into the break. Lebanon Valley's best drive came midway through the third quarter but failed to net any points when the Dutchmen were stopped on fourth-and-1 at Delaware Valley's 43-yard line. Darden completed an 18-yard touchdown pass to Dan Allen with 13:19 left in the fourth quarter to cap the scoring, while the DVU defense kept LVC's offense from reaching the red zone the rest of the way to put a bow on the shutout victory.

Last Time Out
Lebanon Valley suffered a hearbreaking 25-21 MAC loss to an up-and-coming Misericordia program in front of a tremendous Homecoming crowd of nearly 5,000 at a packed Arnold Field this past Saturday. The Flying Dutchmen appeared to be in complete control late in the third quarter when Ryan Fink's second rushing touchdown of the game put them ahead 21-10. The defense forced an MU three-and-out but a fumble on the ensuing punt return allowed the Cougars (5-1, 4-0 MAC) a short field that led to a touchdown and two-point conversion just 54 seconds into the fourth quarter. The team's traded possessions three times in the final quarter before Misericordia put together what proved to be the game-winning nine-play, 85-yard drive that was capped with a 25-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Brady Williams to a tackle-breaking Isaiah Williams. The extra point put the visitors out in front for the first time in the second half at 25-21, leaving just 1:16 for LVC to work with. The Dutchmen moved into MU territory when quarterback Kody Kegarise connected with tight end Patrick Clark for an 11-yard gain but Kegarise was picked off when he tried to connect with wide receiver Zeke Wassell in the end zone after rolling out on a broken play. The Cougars took over at their own 10-yard line with 28 seconds remaining and used two kneel downs to escape with the narrow victory. Fink was the team's sparkplug in the second half, rushing eight times during LVC's methodical opening drive of the third quarter and capping the scoring march with a 14-yard touchdown run that put the Dutchmen ahead 14-10 at the 7:18 mark. Things got even better when cornerback Tyler Okomba demolished MU running back David Cromwell on the ensuing possession, forcing a fumble that was recovered and returned by safety Anthony Jenkins to the Cougars' 13-yard line. Two Fink touches later and Lebanon Valley was in the end zone again, now with a 21-10 lead at the 2:22 mark of the third quarter. LVC opened the game with an impressive four-play, 50-yard drive that ended when running back Steve Salerno broke a tackle and scampered 11 yards to paydirt just 1:31 into the contest. Misericordia responded with a field goal on the team's first drive of the day and eventually took a 10-7 lead into halftime thanks to a five-play, 74-yard scoring drive midway through the second quarter.

Previewing with Coach Buehler
Head Coach Joe Buehler '89 sat down to discuss last week's game and looked ahead at Saturday's Pink Game against DVU.

Pink Game
LVC is holding its annual Pink Game on Saturday in hopes of continuing to raise breast cancer awareness, and particularly to remind female fans and family to be screened regularly for breast cancer. Baked goods and t-shirts will be sold, and a number of coaches, football players, and cheerleaders will be wearing pink sweatbands, bows, and ribbons.

Special Teams Impresses
Perhaps the Dutchmen's brightest spot of the season has been their special teams. LVC is tops in the MAC in net average at 39.7. In point-after attempts, the Dutchmen are a perfect 12-for-12, while as a team, LVC is fourth in the conference in kickoff return after at 20.2. Tyeair Diggs sits in second with a kick return average of 24.5, while Dre Burch ranks third in the MAC.

Noting LVC's Offense
Last week, LVC's offense showed signs of life, specifically the run game. Against Misericordia, the Dutchmen racked up 237 yards and three touchdowns on 53 attempts on the ground. Ryan Fink enjoyed the best game of his season, as he rushed for 133 yards and two touchdowns on 27 attempts against the Cougars. Tight end Patrick Clark was the Dutchmen's top receiver, pulling in two catches for 41 yards.

Noting LVC's Defense
Safety Zachary Adams led the way this past Saturday against Mis with eight tackles, while defensive lineman Adam Wagaman and linebacker Alex Trujillo each recorded a sack. Cornerbacks Tyler Okomba and Grant Gaumer each broke up two passes, as did linebacker Dillon Estes.

Scouting Delaware Valley
Similar to Misericordia, Del Val lost its opener but has rattled off five consecutive wins. The Aggies' lone loss this season was against No. 9 Wesley by a 34-10 margin. Offensively, DVU is leading the conference in rushing offense at 207.7 yards per game. The Aggies hold the MAC's number one scoring defense, allowing just 18.5 points per game, but the Aggies are also the conference's most penalized team, averaging 85.7 yards in infractions per contest.

Who's Next?
LVC continues MAC action on Saturday, Oct. 27 when the Dutchmen head to Madison, N.J. to battle FDU-Florham.
