How It Happened
Lebanon Valley never trailed in its convincing 74-60 victory over conference foe Arcadia at Sorrentino Gymnasium on Wednesday night, Jan. 11.

The Flying Dutchmen (9-7, 4-3 MAC Commonwealth) forced 20 turnovers and got double-digit scoring efforts from four players in Becky Evans (18), Anne Lehr (16), Caroline Scarff (14), and Emily Mealey (10).

LVC came flying out of the gate and back-to-back 3-pointers plus a pair of free throws from Evans put the home team ahead by 10 at the 3:49 mark of the first quarter. Lehr, Morgan Bamberger, and Jen Kaufman combined for five conversions from the charity stripe and Lehr beat the buzzer with a jumper to make it 23-9 after one.

It was more of the same in the second quarter, with the Dutchmen defense clamping down and holding the Knights (7-7, 2-4 MAC Commonwealth) to just one made field goal during the stanza. LVC's offense stayed steady and the team capped the opening half by breaking the Arcadia press when Veronica Venezia found Kaufman at the 3-point line before the freshman whipped a pass to an open Tamara Hanson who finished the play with a layup as time expired, putting Lebanon Valley up 36-18 at the break.

Arcadia responded after the break and outscored the Dutchmen 22-17 in the third quarter, cutting the deficit to 13 heading into the final 10 minutes.

After the Knights drew to within five points with 2:18 remaining, however, LVC answered back when Evans drove down the right side of the lane and finished with a layup before Lehr buried a mid-range jumper in the paint on the team's next possession.
The visitors were forced to foul in the final seconds and Evans and Lehr combined to convert eight consecutive free throws down the stretch, sealing the key conference victory in the process.
