How It Happened
Lebanon Valley came within one goal of advancing to semifinal round of the 2017 MAC Commonwealth Championship Tournament but couldn't hold off a late Widener surge in a 12-11 loss to the Pride in the tournament's play-in game on Monday night.

Leading 10-8 heading into the fourth quarter, the Flying Dutchmen (9-8) were unable to keep the home team from reeling off four goals in a row. Kevin Beaver netted his third goal of the night to complete the hat trick and cut the deficit to a single marker with 1:11 left but that's as close as LVC would come to pulling off the upset.

The visitors led 5-4 at halftime and added five goals from five different scorers in the third quarter, with Beaver, Brett Kudlak, Austin Minnich, Max Warmingham, and Klayton Garman all finding twine during the period and giving LVC a two-goal advantage heading into the final 15 minutes.

The Dutchmen scored all three first-quarter goals, with Beaver opening the contest's scoring before Kudlak and Matt Torrence added to the early advantage.

The Pride (9-7) finally got on the board early in the second period with back-to-back goals at the 14:09 and 12:51 marks, respectively, but a pair of goals from Minnich slowed the Widener momentum and gave LVC a two-goal lead heading into halftime.
