How It Happened
ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley came from behind to defeat Widener 9-7 on Saturday afternoon at Arnold Field. The win is the Dutchmen's second straight and they jumped to 2-7, 2-0 MAC Commonwealth, while the Pride fell to 3-6, 0-2 MAC Commonwealth. LVC's stout defense and goaltending gave up just one goal in the second half.
At the start of the second half, LVC found itself down by a goal at 6-5 after the Dutchmen opened up the game by scoring two consecutive goals. The squad responded in a big way in the second half and scored four straight goals, beginning with a
Kirsten Bannan tally at 24:13 to tie the contest at 6-6. Later,
Emma Jones scored her third of the game at 18:07, and the junior added another goal on the free position at 16:54 to put the Dutchmen up by two at 8-6.
Jones continued her dominant second half with another goal at 3:43, making it a 9-6 game. The Pride struck for a late goal with 1:35 to go, but that's all that
Hannah Oliveras and the Dutchmen defense would let in, as LVC came away with the exciting 9-7 win behind clutch offense and solid defense.
