How It Happened
Lebanon Valley suffered a 6-1 loss at the hands of Ohio Northern in the team's first game of its 2017 Spring Break slate in Clermont, Fla. on Monday afternoon.
The Flying Dutchmen (1-2) kept pace with the Polar Bears (3-0) for four innings before ONU put up five runs on five hits and one LVC error in the fifth inning to break the game open.
After Ohio Northern used three consecutive singles to plate the game's first run with two outs in the top of the first,
Tianna Yanoscak locked in and allowed just two Polar Bears to reach base over the next three stanzas.
The Dutchmen drew even in the fourth when
Sammy Bost led off with a single, stole second base, and scored thanks to
Savannah Toth's RBI single.

Tianna Yanoscak got the start for LVC and went 4.2 innings before giving way to
Lexi Windsor in the fifth. All six ONU runs were credited to the freshman who gave up 10 hits, five of which came in the fifth frame, and struck out four.
- Windsor was much better in her second appearance of the year than she was in her first. She threw the final 2.1 innings, worked through three walks and allowed no hits, and struck out four of the seven batters she faced.
- Kirsten Lightel earned the win for the Polar Bears, throwing a complete game and allowing just one run on five hits. She walked a pair of batters and struck out five Dutchmen.
At the Plate
- All of LVC's hits were singles, with
Sammy Bost,
Annie McClain,
Lexi Windsor,
Savannah Toth, and
Robin Feaster recording one each.
- Toth drove in LVC's lone run, while
Haley Christensen and
Kate Whelski each walked once.
- Gabby Stewart finished a perfect 3-3 with a walk for Ohio Northern.

How It Happened
Lebanon Valley earned its first victory of the squad's 2017 week-long Spring Break trip in Clermont, Fla. with a 5-2 win over Catholic on Monday afternoon, March 6.
The Flying Dutchmen (2-2) took advantage of a pair of Cardinal errors and scored four unearned runs, the first of which came in the fourth inning when
Haley Christensen singled to drive in
Elaine Gross and
Savannah Toth.
Kate Whelski's ensuing base knock plated Christensen and gave LVC a 3-0 lead after three and a half stanzas.
Lebanon Valley added to its advantage in the fifth when
Sammy Bost's triple to right field led to another run after
Annie McClain's sacrifice fly brought her across. The Dutchmen added an insurance run in the top of the sixth when Catholic's second error allowed Christensen to score following her double to left field.
The Cardinals (3-3) broke up the shutout with a pair of two-out runs in the bottom of the seventh but LVC starter
Maddie Abbot worked out of trouble to seal her second victory of the season.

Maddie Abbot was stellar for the Dutchmen, throwing a complete game and earning the win. The freshman allowed just two runs on six hits and three walks. She also struck out seven batters.
- Kelly Lynch took the loss for Catholic despite surrendering just one earned run on seven hits. She didn't walk a batter and struck out three.

Haley Christensen had a big day for LVC, finishing 2-3 with a double, two RBI, and a run scored.
