How It Happened
Emma Jones was a one-woman offensive machine for Lebanon Valley but her effort wasn't enough to overcome Scranton's firepower in the team's 17-5 road loss to the Royals on Sunday afternoon, March 5.
The home team got on the board less than a minute into the contest but Jones secured the ensuing draw control before netting the equalizer 30 seconds later.
Meghan Kerr responded with her second goal of the game for the Royals (3-0) at the 25:45 mark but LVC (0-2) again drew even when
Nikki Lloyd converted her first goal of the young season less than a minute later.
From there, Scranton's offense exploded to life and netted the final nine goals of the first half to take a commanding 11-2 advantage into the break. The Royals took a double-digit lead when Shannon Warburton scored 35 seconds into the second half.
Jones ended the drought with back-to-back goals that cut the deficit to a more manageable 12-4 but Scranton reeled off five scores in a row to put things out of reach before Jones capped the game's scoring with a marker with 1:08 left to play.
