LVC Bats Erupt In Victories On Final Day of Spring Break

How It Happened
Lebanon Valley erased an early deficit and stormed back to defeat Emmanuel 11-3 in five innings on the final day of the team's spring break slate in Clermont, Fla. on Friday morning.

The Saints (3-6) struck first when Casey Sheehan connected with a lead-off solo shot over the right field fence in the bottom of the third and Kara Madden doubled to drive in a pair of runs three batters later.

Trailing 3-0 heading into the fourth, the Flying Dutchmen (6-3) responded in a big way by racking up nine runs on 10 hits in the stanza. Elaine Gross had a monster inning as she led off with a double to left field before hitting a grand slam home run to center field during her second at-bat of the frame. By the time it was all said and done, LVC took a commanding 9-3 advantage into the bottom half.

Maddie Abbot struck out two Emmanuel batters to get Lebanon Valley back to the plate and it was Gross who did the damage again when she doubled for the second time, scoring Sammy Bost and Annie McClain in the process.

The Saints stranded a pair of runners in scoring position in the bottom of the fifth, ending the game early with McClain making the victory-sealing putout on a ground ball to shortstop.

Inside the Circle
- Maddie Abbot recorded her fifth win of the spring, making a relief appearance and throwing the final three innings. She allowed just two hits and struck out three.
- Tianna Yanoscak got the start for LVC and went two innings, surrendering three runs on six hits and a walk.
- Jill Kilcoyne took the loss for Emmanuel, giving up nine runs, seven of which were earned, on 11 hits. The wheels came off in the fourth inning after a solid start.
- Olivia Burgos made a relief appearance for the Saints and went 1.2 innings, allowing a pair of runs on four hits and one walk.

At the Plate
- Elaine Gross had a day, finishing 3-4 with a grand slam, two doubles, two runs scored, and a game-high six RBI.
- Sammy Bost and Savannah Toth each went 3-4, with Bost scoring twice and driving in a run from the lead-off position, while Toth had an RBI and scored once from the clean-up spot.
- Haley Christensen had a multi-hit game with two singles and Kate Whelski added an RBI double for LVC.
- Emmanuel managed three extra-base hits in Casey Sheehan's home run and doubles by Sydney Rogers and Kara Madden.

Around the Diamond
- Sammy Bost stole a pair of bases, while Rayanne Hawk also swiped a bag for the Dutchmen.
- Susie Kieselback stole the lone bag of the game for the Saints.
- Emmanuel committed three errors, leading to a pair of unearned runs for LVC.

How It Happened
The Lebanon Valley offense erupted for the team's largest single-game hits total of the young season in a 13-1 victory over Drew in the final game of the squad's spring break schedule in Clermont, Fla. on Friday afternoon.

Sammy Bost led off the game with a double and Savannah Toth singled to center field two batters later to drive her and Annie McClain across in the early going. Haley Christensen made it 3-0 with a bases-loaded single to shortstop that plated Toth, capping the scoring in the top of the first.

The Rangers (3-7) got on the board in the top of the fourth when Heather Ronchi's single drove in Megan McGuire from third base but the Flying Dutchmen (7-3) answered in a big way in the bottom of the frame, using seven hits and three errors to score 10 runs and blow the game open.

???????Rayanne Hawk doubled to lead off the stanza and Kate Whelski's extra-base hit plated Annie McClain and Savannah Toth midway through the inning. The team batted around and Hawk drove in a pair with a single to right center field before McClain put an exclamation point on the scoring with her first collegiate home run; a three-run shot over the left center field fence.

???????Lexi Windsor got Drew to go down 1-2-3 in the top of the fifth, sealing LVC's sixth and final victory of the week in the Sunshine State.

Inside the Circle
- Maddie Abbot got the start for the Dutchmen and threw a pair of scoreless innings with two strikeouts.
- Lexi Windsor clinched her first victory of the spring by going three innings and allowing one run of the unearned variety on just two hits. She also struck out two Rangers.
- Bethany Budner got the start for Drew but was chased from the game after surrendering nine runs, three of which were unearned, on 13 hits.
- Victoria Avella spelled Budner and allowed four runs on three hits in the bottom of the fourth inning.

At the Plate
- Savannah Toth was a perfect 3-3 from the dish with a double, three RBI and a pair of runs scored.
- Annie McClain had a big outing, going 2-4 with her first home run of the year, three runs scored, and a game-high four RBI.
- Rayanne Hawk was 2-3 with a double, two runs scored, and a pair of RBI.
- Cheyanne Brown also went 2-3 with a run scored in her first full contest of the season.
- Sammy Bost and Kate Whelski each doubled for LVC, with Bost scoring twice and Whelski driving in a pair of runs.
- Six Dutchmen recorded multi-hit games.

Around the Diamond
- Annie McClain stole the game's only base.
- The Rangers committed three errors, while Lebanon Valley had one.
- Savannah Toth (.517) and Sammy Bost (.514) each end the week with a batting average of .500-plus.
- Maddie Abbot currently leads the squad with a 0.72 ERA and 32 strikeouts on the young season.
