How It Happened
SHELTON, Conn. – Lebanon Valley's women's ice hockey team finished off its first-ever season in style by shutting out Post University 4-0 on Sunday afternoon in Connecticut. The Dutchmen finished off 2016-17 with a 4-17 record, while the Eagles dropped to 0-21.
All four of LVC's wins this season came against Post, and in the four games, the Dutchmen outscored the Eagles 19-4.
LVC's four tallies came from four different goal scorers, and tt was
Liz D'Ginto who kicked it off this afternoon, netting a goal 6:13 into the opening period from
Taylor Borrelli and LVC went into the first intermission up by one. The Dutchmen added two more scores in the second, beginning with
Nikki Lloyd's unassisted goal 2:24 into the period, followed by a Borrelli goal with five and a half remaining.
In the third period,
Eleanor Donaher found the back of the net to increase the Dutchmen's advantage to 4-0, and that was more than plenty for
Jillian Moffatt, who earned the first shutout of her career.

Looking Back on the Memory of…
Lebanon Valley's first-ever women's hockey season is officially in the books. Lloyd let the team in points with 13 (9 G, 4 A), while D'Ginto and Donaher both posted 11 points. It was an historic freshman campaign for LVC's net-minder Moffatt. She made 1,123 saves this season, which easily leads all of NCAA DIII, plus her .937 saves percentage is quite impressive as well.
Next season, the Dutchmen will have a season under their belt and will welcome newcomers to a team that's still growing. The future certainly seems bright.
