How It Happened
Lebanon Valley wrapped up the 2017 portion of its schedule with a decisive 91-55 blowout victory over Bryn Athyn in Bethlehem, Pa. on the final day of Moravian's Greyhound Classic on Sunday evening, Dec. 31.
Sam Light was the game's high scorer and finished with 24 points.
Zach Tucker finished one rebound shy of his first career double-double with 10 tallies and nine boards, while
Andy Orr and
Chris Anderson just missed out on double digits with nine points apiece.
The Flying Dutchmen (9-4) turned a game that was competitive in the early going into a laugher by halftime. LVC took its first double-digit lead of the night when Light converted a pair of free throws to make it 25-14 at the 8:46 mark, and
Andrew Eberhart's layup off a Tucker assist just before the break made it 45-21.
Light stayed hot in the second half and buried back-to-back 3-pointers to put Lebanon Valley out in front by 30-plus with 13:38 left to play.
LVC head coach
Brad McAlester looked to his bench to close things out and the group answered the call.
Luke Stambaugh knocked down a triple to make it an 84-46 game and
Jordan Abdo buried a jumper from beyond the arc off a
Justin Baker find to give the Dutchmen their largest lead of the game at 39 points with 1:45 remaining.
Last But Not Least
Tonight's contest between Lebanon Valley and Bryn Athyn was the final NCAA Division III men's basketball game of 2017 to be played and completed.
Inside the Numbers
- The Dutchmen had another strong night from the field, finishing with a 51.5 percent shooting percentage.
- LVC had a good night from distance and shot 41.2 percent (14-34) from 3-point territory.
- The teams combined to shoot just 14 free throws for the game.
- Lebanon Valley's bench outscored the Bryn Athyn reserves 39-28.

Sam Light netted a game-high 24 points on 8-11 shooting, including 4-6 from 3-point range. He also grabbed five rebounds. For his efforts, he was named to the all-tournament team.

Zach Tucker had a nice night, racking up 10 points and a team-high nine rebounds in 18 minutes of play.

Chris Anderson dished out a game-high five assists to go along with nine points.

Andy Orr also tallied nine points to along with four boards and four assists.

Will Boccanfuso (4-6) and
Collin Moore (3-4) were both efficient in posting eight points.

Andrew Eberhart gathered in five rebounds to go along with six points.
- For the Dutchmen, 15 different players saw action in the victory.
Who's Next?
The Dutchmen open 2018 with a conference showdown against the defending MAC Commonwealth champions from Lycoming. LVC hosts the Warriors at Sorrentino Gymnasium on Wednesday night, Jan. 3.
