How It Happened
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Lebanon Valley's women's basketball squad dropped a 63-55 non-conference contest to Drew University on Thursday morning at the Dutchmen's second and final day of the Daytona Beach Shootout. LVC, who finished with a 1-1 mark in Florida, now sit at 8-5, while the Rangers improved to 6-4.
With 5:09 remaining in the fourth quarter,
Anne Lehr's jumper tied the contest at 46-46. On the ensuing Drew possession, Julia Ramos knocked down a 3-pointer, and after LVC missed a layup, Michaela Keegman connected a layup to cap a quick 5-0 spurt for the Rangers that put them ahead 51-46 with 4:07 to go. Lehr hit another jumper at 3:53 to make it a 51-48 game, but in the final 2:37 of action, the Rangers took care of business from the charity stripe, enabling Drew to keep the Dutchmen at bay and hang on for the eight-point win.
Early on, the game was tied at 8-8 with 5:50 left in the first, but a 6-2 spurt by LVC gave it a 14-10 lead with 2:43 to go. The Rangers responded and tied it at 16-16 with 1:14 left, but two free throws by
Tamara Hanson and one from
Caroline Scarff in the final minute gave the Dutchmen a 19-16 advantage heading into the second quarter.
Jen Kaufman hit a pair of free throws at 9:09 of the second to make it a five-point lead for LVC at 21-16, however Drew ended the half on an 11-3 run to take a 27-24 advantage going into halftime.
Becky Evans opened up the third period with a trey to knot the contest at 27-27, and neither team was able to pull away, as the largest lead of the quarter came with a second remaining when Hailey Stine made a 3-pointer to put Drew up 41-37.

Morgan Bamberger paced LVC's offense with 14 points and a 4-for-9 line from beyond the arc.

Veronica Venezia finished with eight points, while Lehr had six points and eight assists.
 - Evans chipped in five points and added seven assists.
 - Drew's Stine recorded a game-high 20 points and Keegan added 16 points.
 - Total rebounds were knotted at 39-39.
 - The Dutchmen's bench outscored the Rangers' by an 18-14 margin.
Who's Next?
LVC is off until 2018 when the Dutchmen step back into MAC Commonwealth action and host Lycoming on Jan. 3 at 8 p.m.
