Evans Leads LVC to Comeback Win Over Marywood

How It Happened
ANNVILLE, Pa. – Becky Evans guided Lebanon Valley to a 64-56 comeback-victory over non-conference opponent Marywood on Sunday after in women's basketball action. The Dutchmen jumped to 7-3, while the Pacers dropped to 1-6.

Down 37-32 heading into the third quarter, LVC weathered the storm and never panicked, even after Marywood's Catie Nealon put the Pacers ahead by nine at 43-34 with 7:22 left in the third. From there, Evans took over and scored the Dutchmen's next 11 points to knot the contest at 45-45 with 4:36 remaining in the third. During her impressive scoring spree, the senior connected on three-consecutive 3-pointers. Later, at 2:15, Veronica Venezia made a layup to give LVC its first lead since it was 19-18 back in the second quarter.

In the fourth quarter with the Dutchmen up 49-48, Evans continued her dominance with another trey at 8:29 to put LVC ahead by three at 51-48. The Pacers wouldn't go away however, and Erika Bistran hit a triple on the ensuing play to tie the game at 51-51 with 7:31 to go. Later, Natasha Hessling brought Marywood to within one at 57-56 with a layup with 1:56 remaining, but Emily Mealey responded with a layup at 1:40, making it a 59-56 score.
After Bistran missed a three-point attempt on the next play, Evans put the game away with a jumper with 1:04 left to increase LVC's advantage to five at 61-56. Mealey went on to make three consecutive free throws to rid any sort of comeback by the Pacers.

In the opening quarter, Marywood came out on fire and began the game on a 9-3 run. Evans stopped the bleeding with a three-pointer at 5:38 and later, Morgan Bamberger knocked down a triple with two minutes left to bring the Dutchmen to within one at 16-15. With 1:18 to go, Caroline Scarff's layup was good and LVC went into the second quarter with a slim 17-16 lead.

The Pacers' hot three-point-shooting continued in the second period, as they opened up the quarter on a 12-5 spurt to give them a 29-21 advantage at 6:25. The Dutchmen never let Marywood pull too far away, and a jumper by Mealey with two seconds left made it just a five-point Pacers' advantage heading into halftime.

Inside the Numbers
 - Evans finished with a season-high 24 points on 7-of-12 shooting and a 5-for-6 mark from the charity stripe. 15 of her points came from beyond the arc, as she went 5-for-8 from three-point land.
 - Anne Lehr registered 14 points, four assists and four steals in 38 minutes of action.
 - Mealey finished with nine points and three assists, to go along with five rebounds.
 - For Marywood, Gab Giordano recorded 15 points, while Bistran (14) and Hessling (12) were also in double digits in points.
 - LVC outshot the Pacers 42.6-percent to 39.3-percent.
 - Marywood held the edge on the glass, outrebounded the Dutchmen 41-28.

Who's Next?
LVC faces a tough test on Monday, Dec. 18 at No. 8 Scranton. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m.
