How It Happened
ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley's men's soccer team held off a late Grove City charge and edged the Wolverines 3-2 to advance to its second-consecutive ECAC Championship game. The Dutchmen won their 14th game of the season and now sit at 14-5-1, while Grove City ended its season with a 12-6-4 mark.
The Wolverines struck first this afternoon, as Franklin Tropiano headed a cross pass from Alec Gehman off of
Cam Avery's hands and into the back of the net to give Grove City a 1-0 advantage just 8:34 into the contest. About eight minutes later, in the 17th minute,
Tyler Skye took advantage of a juicy rebound and found the back of the net from
Rob Hanosek to even the game at 1-1.
Under three minutes later, LVC again made the best of a dangerous rebound, as Skye's initial shot was saved, but
Austin Freeman was there to hit it home and give the Dutchmen a 2-1 lead, which they held after 45 minutes of action.
Early on in the second half, in the 51st minute, Skye netted his eighth of the year and second of the game off another assist from Hanosek, increasing LVC's lead to 3-1. Later on, in the 87th minute, Grove City cut the Dutchmen's advantage to just one when Jonathan Burton netted his ninth of the year after his shot deflected off an LVC player and into the back of the net. The Wolverines had another solid chance in the closing minutes, but the Dutchmen were able to hold on and advance to tomorrow's championship game.

We Goin' to the Ship
The Dutchmen are looking for back-to-back ECAC Championship titles when they take on Rutgers-Camden, who defeated NYU 3-2 this afternoon, tomorrow at 2 p.m. The game was originally scheduled for 12 p.m., but due to today's rain, it has been pushed back two hours to give the field more time to dry.
